It is a privilege to represent The Eye and its members. Officers of the Council must respect that privilege and perform to a higher standard that honors the values of the organization and its members.
Candidate Eligibility Criteria
Members of The Eye that meet the following requirements are eligible to become a candidate in a Council election:
The candidate must be a current member of The Eye.
The candidate must have actively contributed to the search and rescue services.
The candidate must have actively participated in The Eye's events.
The candidate must have at least a rank title of Retriever if applying for Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary positions or Preserver if applying for a department lead position.
The candidate must be willing to actively serve the organization for one year.
The candidate must be willing to prepare a written candidate program which outlines what the candidate plans to do if he/she would successfully assume office.
The candidate must be willing to give a candidacy speech that presents his/her candidate program.
If elected the candidate must be willing to swear the oath of office in a ceremonial event.
If elected the candidate must be willing to give a inauguration speech in a ceremonial event if applying for Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary positions.
Candidate Nominations
The candidates that fulfill the eligibility criteria will be nominated and announced to the members.
Candidate Programs
The candidates prepare a written program which outlines what the candidate plans to do if he/she would successfully assume office. The candidate programs are published on The Eye's website.
Candidacy Speeches
The candidates give a candidacy speech to present his/her candidate program in front of all members.
Election Eligibility Criteria
Members of The Eye that meet the following requirements are eligible to vote in the Council election:
The member must have at least a rank title of Preserver
The member must be active and in good standing
Election
On election day eligible members are allowed to vote on the nominated candidates. Depending on their member rank members have one, two or three votes. The votes are counted and the results are published.
Swearing-In Ceremony
The elected Council members swear the following oath of office in a ceremonial event:
"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of <Council office title>, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the values and interests of The Eye of Elanthia."
Inaugural Addresses
In a ceremonial event the elected Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary give an inaugural speeches in front of all members.
